Alex Daubeney

Graduate Valuation Surveyor

Alex joined Aitchison Raffety in September 2025 as part of our Valuations team in London. He holds a degree in Real Estate from the University of Reading and is developing his expertise across a wide range of valuation instructions. Alex is working towards his APC and is eager to build on his academic background by gaining practical experience and learning from industry leaders.

Bob Wiseman

Area Director

Bob is responsible for carrying out valuation and surveying work on residential property, including investment and development property, owner occupied property, ranging from country Listed properties to new build high end London apartments. Valuation work is primarily undertaken for secured lending purposes and survey work is primarily undertaken for acquisition purposes.

Bob has been a Chartered Surveyor since 1997 and joined Aitchison Raffety in 1999.

Caroline Schmid

Graduate Valuation Surveyor

Caroline joined Aitchison Raffety in July 2025 – she is an avid and curious learner, who has worked in luxury procurement in the UAE, as well as hotel sustainability consulting for a PE fund in Geneva and underwrote 250m in asset value across office, mixed-use and logistics value-add deals in London. Having completed a BSc in International Hospitality and Business Management. and a MSc in Real Estate Finance, she is now part of our London Valuation Team as a graduate valuation surveyor.

Fun Fact: Caroline is a typical Swiss person, eating cheese and chocolate every single day and being a ski teacher in her free time.

Dave Simpson

Director

Dave joined our Healthcare team in March 2021.  He has over 10 years post qualification property experience and has been working in the healthcare sector since 2015.

His healthcare experience includes valuations, rent reviews and lease renewals as well as sale & leaseback of primary care properties.

Dave is responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with existing clients whilst expanding Aitchison Raffety’s presence within the primary care sector throughout the country.

Emma Woolven

Head of Valuations

Emma joined Aitchison Raffety in 2023 and was appointed Head of Valuations in 2025. Emma is a Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer and has developed a broad expertise across all major asset classes, with a particular specialism in the retail sector. Throughout her career, Emma has delivered a wide range of valuations for investors, lenders, and developers, from nationwide portfolios to local development schemes.

As Head of Valuations, Emma leads the national valuation division, overseeing service delivery across lending, financial reporting, and acquisitions. She is responsible for setting best practice standards, managing a high-performing valuation team, and fostering strong, long-term client relationships.

Fun Fact: My life outside of work revolves around my family and three daughters. My fun fact is that as a youngster I competed for Great Britain in Modern Pentathlon – a sport which involves five disciplines necessary to defend the king.

Georgina Walker

Senior Surveyor

Georgina join Aitchison Raffety in May 2024 and has over 10 years’ experience in Property, starting her career as an independent consultant, representing domestic and international investors. She later achieved her RICS accredited Masters degree from a Russell Group University, after being awarded a scholarship, from her academic merit. Georgina specialises in valuing commercial and residential Real Estate, including but not limited to portfolios, HMOs, retail, industrial offices and more.

Fun Fact: Georgina enjoys street skating, reading, swimming and travelling. As a young girl, Georgina wanted to be a ballerina, but wasn’t keen on standing on her toes!

Ian Wimpenny

Managing Director

Ian joined Aitchison Raffety in 2021 and was appointed Managing Director in 2024. With  over 20 years’ of experience in the real estate valuation industry, Ian was responsible for the business’ valuation service line.  Ian is a Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer and has developed a specialism in the execution, review and management of valuations in the UK and EMEA region. Ian was promoted to his role as Managing Director in 2024, where he now leads the growth of the business across key markets in the UK, through fostering high-performing teams. Ian is passionate about delivering excellence and driving innovation within the markets Aitchison Raffety operates.

James Rutter

Surveyor

James Rutter has 10 years of experience dealing with all types of commercial property. After graduating with a 2:1 in Real Estate Management at Oxford Brookes University, James worked at Andrew Scott Robertson, a firm of surveyors in South West London where he built up experience in agency, lease advisory work and valuations, passing his APC to become a Member of the RICS in 2018. James most recently worked for Curson Sowerby Partners, a retail and leisure consultancy where for 3 years he advised both landlords and tenants. Clients ranged from small start-ups to international retail brands, most notably IKEA for whom he helped acquire a number of new sites. James joined Aitchison Raffety in April 2025.

Fun Fact: When I was young my dream was to open the batting for England. I had to settle for opening the batting for Thames Ditton, my local village club. I have also competed in weight-lifting competitions which was I bit better at than cricket.

Jason Rawlings

Director

As an Associate Director of Aitchison Raffety, Jason prepares surveys and other reports on residential property including party wall awards and carries out appraisal work for solicitors, banks and financial organisations including central London, valuing property up to £40million.

Jason has been in practice since 1988 and originally trained with a West End architectural practice (ATP Group), subsequently continuing his training as a Surveyor with northwest London firm Higgins & Co reaching Director status. He developed skills in organising and overseeing refurbishment and new build schemes for a number of Housing Associations. Jason joined Aitchison Raffety in 1999 based at the company’s Hertfordshire office and primarily worked in the residential sector undertaking valuations, surveys and construction monitoring. His valuation experience extends from Watford and surrounding Home Counties, into north, northwest, west and central London.

Joe McCarthy

Head of Business Rates

Joe heads up our Business Rates division, overseeing the growth of the division in London and the Regional offices.  He covers all areas of business rates advice including Check Challenge Appeal, empty rates mitigation, deletions and completion notices. 

Having worked in the rating industry for over 10 years, Joe has a wealth of experience advising multi-national clients and appealing large sites across all sectors, specialising in the London office and retail markets. He has successfully secured reductions against the 2010, 2017 and 2023 rating lists on behalf of clients, and has vast experience in Valuation and Upper Tribunal. 

Karen St Helen

Associate Director

Karen has over 25 years in the property business including Landlord and Tenant work but predominantly valuations for secured lending.  Karen has undertaken a variety of secured lending work covering, London, Essex, parts of Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Kent and Suffolk. She has obtained a good level of knowledge across property sectors such as residential, office, industrial, HMO’s and retail. Previous experience included undertaking asset valuations for Essex County Council of their schools, police and fire stations. Karen has provided good support and guidance for APC exams via mentorship to many graduates in helping them achieve their professional membership.

Fun Fact: Travelling is Karen’s first love. She has travelled to Brazil to the west and as far as Australia to the east. Therefore an up-to-date passport is a must!! Favourite places are Barcelona, Rio De Janeiro, Kerela (India) and Thailand. Current hobbies include kizomba dancing and going to the gym.

Martin Powell

Business Development Director

Martin joined Aitchison Raffety in October 2018 and currently serves as our Business Development Director. Martin leads the firm’s strategic growth agenda across all service lines, driving innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering sustainable long-term value. In this role, Martin identifies emerging market opportunities, forges strategic partnerships, and ensures the Group’s commercial strategy is fully aligned with its overarching vision and objectives.

With over two decades of senior leadership experience – including a successful early career at Lloyds Banking Group – Martin joined Aitchison Raffety in 2018 as a Director. Since then, he has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s business development initiatives, focusing keenly on performance improvement, investment alignment, and scalable growth.

Martin’s impressive track record of delivering results through strategic collaboration and astute market insight positions him as a pivotal figure in the Group’s continued expansion and success

Fun Fact: Martin always dreamed of being a footballer – He also had a serious culinary streak and was offered a position at the illustrious Dorchester in Mayfair.

Max Buckland

Surveyor

Max joined Aitchison Raffety in February 2023 after graduating from the University of Reading with a BSc in Real Estate. Initially qualifying in the Valuation division, he specialised in secured lending for commercial property assets. Max has since transitioned to the Corporate Real Estate team in Central London, where he now focuses on Commercial Agency and Lease Advisory work.

Fun Fact: Max was a keen rugby player, playing for Worcester Warriors Academy, awarded a sports scholarship to attend Bromsgrove School and regularly captained his University rugby team for the First XV.

Max Williamson

Associate Director

Max joined AR in May 2025 and has over 10 years’ experience in commercial property advisory; having previously worked for Lambert Smith Hampton and the Valuation Office.

He has vast experience in bulk class advisory of warehouses, offices and retail; alongside several specialist classes. Within the Valuation Office he has previously worked on revaluation and appeals within London and South Yorkshire markets alongside high-value assets in Westminster. He has also overseen GPCR review schemes for a number of national retail parks

Fun Fact: Max is a keen runner and Sheffield Wednesday season ticket holder.

Michelle Cheung

Senior Surveyor

Michelle is a Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer with over 5 years of post-qualification experience, specializing in the loan security valuation of residential and commercial properties across Greater London and Home Counties. She holds an undergraduate degree in Accountancy and chose to pursue a career in surveying. Prior to joining AR, Michelle worked for a major property developer in Hong Kong, where she focused on land appraisal and acquisition in Hong Kong, Singapore and London.

Fun Fact: Outside of work, Michelle enjoys spending time with her 5-year-old son, Cooper. An energetic young builder, Cooper loves creating with Lego and exploring the virtual world of Minecraft. The two also enjoy exploring parks and discovering new corners of the city together.

Director

Paul joined Aitchison Raffety in October 2025 as a Chartered & Registered Valuation Surveyor with over 20 years of experience specialising in the commercial, residential, and development sectors across Essex, Suffolk, Hertfordshire, and North & East London.  With deep market knowledge, he provides expert valuation and consultancy services primarily to support secured lending and strategic decision making.

Paul works with banks, developers, housing associations, investors, solicitors, accountants, charities, schools, and local authorities.

Fun Fact: At weekends, I coach my eldest son’s Under-9s 7-a-side football team, which keeps me active. I’m also passionate about electronic music and learnt to DJ when I was 15. I enjoy spending time with my family which includes a small cavapoo, Socks, who keeps life lively at home.

Rod Greenland

Director

Rod has over 25 years experience in the property industry as a Chartered Surveyor primarily working in valuations and is MRICS qualified and a RICS Registered Valuer.  He has more than 10 years experience working in London across several roles undertaking a range of specialisms including trading properties, commercial, development and residential property.  He also has a good understanding of the banking sector having previously worked for a major bank in their business banking team.

Joining Aitchison Raffety in 2024 and based in our London office, his focus is on providing valuation and specialist advice on commercial property across London and surrounds for a wide range of corporate and private clients.  Rod prides himself on his professionalism and ability to provide timely advice and a favourable client experience.

Tom Beckett

Surveyor

Tom joined our Valuation team in July 2023 and has four years’ experience in General Practice within the public sector and Investment Property Management in the private sector working on some of London’s most prestigious estates. Tom advises on a broad spectrum of commercial, residential and development assets throughout London and the south. Valuations are undertaken primarily for secured lending purposes predominantly, although Tom also advises private clients, solicitors, financial organisations, and developers. Tom was also shortlisted as a finalist for RICS Young Commercial Property Surveyor of the year award.
