Our Northampton planning office secured full planning permission for 30 affordable houses on the rural edge of Raunds in North Northamptonshire.

The development proposal will contribute to are cognised need for affordable homes in the area, supported by grant funding. The proposal was recommended for approval by the case officer at the Council recognising that the provision of affordable housing to meet a local need justified and outweighed the harm of development in the open countryside.

Whilst members of the planning committed initially deferred the proposal they subsequently concluded that whilst full developer contributions could not be provided without affecting the viability of the proposal, the benefits of a fully affordable housing scheme outweighed the level of harm and granted permission subject to completion of a Section 106 agreement.

The planning permission represents another example of our team’s hands on expertise as we previously attained development consent nearby on the edge of the settlement, where 21 dwellings were allowed on appeal with full costs secured against the Council for unreasonable behaviour.
